We are here today, at the IV Convent of The Grand National Lodge of Romania., 5 years after juridical and organizational creation, post-communism of a regular, traditional, spiritual and moral masonry that will continue the Masonic work of interwar generation in Romania.
Then, like now, not many got the Grand Initiation by attending lectures and conferences in big European cities with important Professors.
Back home they practiced everything they have learned contributing on developing and consolidating of the state institutions, making laws, reforms in agreement with principles, helping people.
In that times Masonry fulfill its tasks, it was the main factor that kept the Romanian together; the activity of the Lodges throughout the country were remarkable and in agreement with the social, politic and economic needs.
A masonry life and distinguished society with a superior thought which have been present in the middle of society all the time through facts established a powerful historical foundation with important roots in Romanian tradition on which is based Romanian Masonry, The Grand National Lodge of Romania.
The respect and high consideration for Romanian Manson who fulfilled their duty, the fundamental principles which has maintained uninterrupted the spinal column verticality, the light which never turns off, here under Masonic oath oblige us to continue this Masonic work at the same level or even more.
Nowadays, the Evil is more and more among mankind. A powerful moral work is necessary to be done, and so, through our act of kindness, an equilibrium and harmony and tolerance can be ensured; thus the next generation will be able to have a superior, natural development, a deeply spiritual evolution.
After 1989, Romania was through 12 years of betrayal and an illusion of random masonry, where chaos, lies, corruption, dishonesty cemented it. Thus we recorded the blackest pages in the history of Romanian freemasonry.
My dear brothers, we have delimitated ourselves from this pseudo masonry, we raise with a forcefully power, above, through a huge faith in The Grand Architect of the Universe, each one in our God, against corruption, this hatchet that spoiled tens of thousands souls, not far then 2002 respectively 6002, in Brasov.
History designate this year, 6002, in Brasov, as a beginning of separation of cockle from grain, as a regeneration of Romanian masonry, from a healthy, pure germ, into a prestigious masonry and values, highly moral brothers can create, conceive everything that Romania needs now and in the future.
We started 5 years ago, we build and we will keep on this way, not alone, but together with all Romanian brothers throughout the country and abroad, together with the brothers from Europe; thus, Romania will be part of the Grand European and Universal Family, through values, nature and light.
Without bringing back again all the obstacles and purposeful trips, denigrations, and other non-Masonic actions done, unfortunately, by so called masons I will refer further to what we accomplished together under the motto: Liberty, Equality, Fraternity.
We set up the first peasant lodge in the world, in Hobita, the natal village of Constantin Brincusi, and together we build a monument raised in the memory of the heroes from the first and Second World War. It was a wish written in C-tin Brincusi’s testament. We give as a present to the churches of Hobita and Pestisani worship objects, books and assistance for the people. We put a wooden cross next to Brancusis parents grave, as a Christian symbol and in the memory of Constantin Brincusi.
In Alba Iulia at the grave raised in honor of our hero and martyr Horea, brother Horea, our brothers from R.˙.L.˙. Horea, Closca and Crisan established in Alba Iulia have raised a votive light monument, symbolizing two bronze gigantic hands having inside a heart from which leap out an everlasting flame. This is for our dear brother who become a victim for our liberty, a shackle of the big Masonic eternally chain, together with his brothers form our nation.
The public Masonic conferences, with international participation, and different topics such as:
-The human rights and duties about himself and society;
-The place and meaning of masonry in Romanian society, etc.
predisposed to meditation and auto-perfection. All of them tried as it’s called to polish the gemstone.
We have had participation in several international Masonic conferences such as: in Italy at Santa Gata di Goti, in Paris at the Center for conferences of Grand Loge de France, in Lisbone at International Congres organized by Centro de Estudos Fernando Pessoa, in Greece, at Eleusis Citadel – elusian traditions and history.
We were promoted in “The Great United Lodges of Europe” Confederation, being the first step to the European Masonry union with one European Masonic program and statute, but keeping the cultural diversity of every nations and its specific tradition.
In 2005 we were the host of Coordination Council “The Great United Lodges of Europe” when we have had the opportunity to inaugurated “The Regional Centre for Franc Masonic Studies Paris – Bucharest” having its main object the study of a Masonic archives and Masonic traditions. With this occasion, as in each year, we will participate today at the European Cultural Evening where our brothers from the cultural, educational and scientific branches from Romania and abroad will have the opportunity to meet each others and to construct together in the near future.
We have had a brothers Adrian Dohotaru and Sever Frentiu commemorations Grand Masters passed in the Eternal Orien; we pay our respect for their devotion and sacrifice.
We have had Masonic activities in Oltenia at the Calul monastery, Bistrita, in Moldova at the Moldavian monasteries as Voronet, Pangarat were we have been honored by foreign Masonic delegations participation. Also in Brasov at the first Romanian school and Schei monastery, at Hobita and Pestisani, Slanic Moldova, Cisnadioara, Cisnadioara fortress where we had a Masonic ceremony. I can continue with our activities at Alba Iulia, Sighetul Marmatiei where the number of Masonic monuments are impressive, at all Transylvanian cemeteries, at Constanta, Zalau, Timisoara, Baia Mare, Craiova, Bals, Dragasani, Slatina, Nicolae Titulescu, Tg. Jiu, Tismana where we have had a dialog between Oltenian brothers and we decipher the Masonic secrets.
We published Masonic magazines “Masonic Feelings” as a culture and opinion magazine, Masonic magazine “La Curte (In the Yard)” edited by Masonic ritualistic research lodge.
There have been done translation of Masonic books with a great value as “The history of Franc-masonry” by Albert Makey, first and second edition, Scottish Rite by Flaurance Alain from France MLA, etc. The Regional Franc-Masonic Studies Center Paris-Bucharest has published its first Masonic magazine called “The Masonic Word” that has appeared on the Romanian market for large audience.
All of them have been published during Masonic activities in Bacau, Brasov, Alba Iulia, Ploiesti, Cluj, Bucuresti, Craiova, etc. During these activities our members have had real contacts with masonry. We had interviews on radio, TV and press to mark all these moments and have been benefic for us.
We organized each year, on 8th of September, the Romanian Masonic Day, with participation of ambassadors, peoples from cultural field, brothers from our jurisdictions and others.
We had every year charity actions during Christmas and Easter time, we organized fraternal reunion with our families; we signed a protocol with the town halls in Bucharest and month after month, we take care of 20 families of old people.
We have constituted lodges and triangles throughout the territory of Romania and checked their development and consolidation.
We started the construction of Masonic temples as follow: first in Brasov, then Craiova, Bucharest, Piatra Neamt, Sibiu, Alba Iulia, Cluj, etc.
In 2005, we started the preparation to constitute the Supreme Council of Romanian A.A.S.R. (Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite) which is in full development. I am taking the opportunity to thank you for your support and understanding in continuation of training for superior level 4-33. I also appreciate very much all support received from:
- The Great Commander of the France Supreme Council, Brother Sovereign Huber Greven from Paris;
- The Great Chancellor brother Michael Basiaux and
- The Great Secretary brother Jean Claude Hertz.
We have translated the Masonic rites in the grade 1,2,3 in order to get a better understanding of Rite SAA masonry in its whole traditions and regularities. We also have changed Masonic outfit: apron and colan after Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite model.
All this afford a maturity of Masonic work of The Grand National Lodge of Romania, a great numbers of contracts with Grand Lodges from Europe and other continents. We signed treaties of friendship and recognition with Grand Lodges from Europe as well as administrative treaties with Grand Orients and Grand Lodges. The motto of our work is: friendship, fraternity, equality, respect, tolerance, liberty, accomplishing thus harmony and balance.
I hope that bringing back together all these activities and moments in which all of us were involved more or less-give you a joy. What is really important is that we stick together all this last 5 years, through good and worse. This is proved to be a real melting cup in which the work and efforts were not easy but today we are enjoying the beauty of the dreams which come true. We have on construction (building) in pyramidal shape, where all of us accomplish our preparation and elevation on the superior level of wisdom and reason.
In conclusion The Grand National Lodge of Romania is a place where we build continuously, we gave access to knowledge, and we set up the rudder on the right way. On this road the Romanian masons will work step by step, with patient and faith will build a new Manson generations.
Starting from this historical page marked with golden letter in the Romanian Franc-Masonic history in these 5 years and the next generation will confirm this; I will try to offer some possible suggestions in my new mandate in period 2007-2010 of The Grand National Lodge of Romania.
